A Kennedale High School junior is being remembered by friends and family after a fatal motorcycle accident claimed his life on September 26. Brendon Burfield was 16 years old.

According to Kennedale High School’s principal, Brendon and a group of friends had gone out for a motorcycle ride when the tragedy occurred. Near the end of the outing, Brendon had stopped his bike and was accidentally struck by another rider in his group.

Friends and former classmates gathered Sunday for a balloon release held in Brendon’s honor. Prior to attending Kennedale High School, Brendon had been a student in Venus ISD, and those old classmates joined his close friends and family at the memorial gathering.

Those who knew Brendon described him as someone who had an undeniable ability to bring people together. “Brendon was a very, very outgoing person” said close friend Chase Green. “Kind of brought everyone out of their shell.”

Friends recalled that Brendon had a gift for making people laugh and that his presence made every room feel lighter. Even after transferring schools, he continued making the drive back to Venus just to spend time with the friends he had grown up with.

Christopher Porter, another close friend, noted that Brendon never let distance get in the way of the relationships he valued. His loyalty and his smile were among the qualities those closest to him say they will never forget.

Brendon was also known for his love of trucks and had a dream of one day building a second-generation truck from the ground up. His friends say they plan to honor that dream by coming together to complete the project in his memory.

The grief surrounding Brendon’s death has touched both the Kennedale and Venus school communities. School officials and community members have encouraged healing through shared gatherings like Sunday’s balloon release.

Chase Green reflected on the reality of processing such a loss at a young age. “It’s never going to get easier” Chase said. “You’re just going to learn to live with it.”

Brendon Burfield is remembered as a fearless, warm-hearted teenager who lived fully and loved the people around him deeply.
