A man is dead following a shooting in Dallas on Saturday evening after succumbing to his injuries at a local hospital, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Corinth Street Road shortly after 5:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had been struck by gunfire.
Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital where medical staff worked to treat his wounds. He was later pronounced dead as a result of those injuries.
Investigators determined early on that the shooting involved a known suspect rather than a random act of violence. However authorities have not publicly disclosed any identifying information about that individual.
The whereabouts and status of the suspect remain unclear at this time as the investigation continues to develop. Dallas Police have not confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Dallas Police. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
