Little Elm Shooting at Short-Term Rental Sends Teen to Hospital After Birthday Party Turns Violent
A birthday party at a short-term rental home in Little Elm ended in gunfire late Friday night, sending a teenager to the hospital and drawing a massive law enforcement response to a normally quiet North Texas neighborhood.

Neighbors described being stunned by the scale of the police response. Resident William Hudson said he returned home to find his street overwhelmed with emergency vehicles. He noted that some of the teenagers had actually approached him and other neighbors earlier in the day to let them know a party was planned, a gesture he said he found surprisingly considerate. Hudson said he had not experienced issues with short-term rentals in the neighborhood before and speculated the violence may have involved someone who was not supposed to be at the gathering.
Miguel Blanco, who lives next door to the rental property, told reporters that his grandson overheard teenagers outside yelling not to shoot before the gunfire erupted. Video captured by residents showed the heavy law enforcement presence stretched along the street.
