A security guard was wounded early Thursday morning after a man suspected of attempting to break into vehicles opened fire inside a parking garage near the Crescent Hotel on Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth.
Surveillance footage captured around 2:45 a.m. shows the suspect moving through the garage and pulling on car door handles. When a security guard approached and ordered him to leave the property the man initially complied and began walking toward the east exit.
As he reached the garage exit the suspect suddenly drew a handgun and fired multiple shots at security personnel. One guard was struck in the arm before the gunman fled the scene on foot.
Fort Worth Police Officer Daniel Segura emphasized the severity of the threat the suspect poses to the public. “His actions by pulling a gun not only displaying it but pointed it and actually shot and hit someone makes this a very dangerous person that we don’t want out on the street” Segura said.
The Crescent Hotel released a statement praising its security team for how they handled the situation and confirmed the injured guard is expected to make a full recovery.
Witnesses described the suspect as a slender Hispanic male with long or loosely curled hair. Police believe the suspect remains in the area and consider him armed and dangerous.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact Fort Worth police immediately. Authorities believe someone in the community knows who this individual is and are calling on that person to come forward.
