A teenage student from Krum ISD has died following a serious vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Denton, leaving the school district and surrounding community in mourning.
Denton police responded to the collision on FM 1173 eastbound near Interstate 35. Three teenagers were transported to a local hospital following the wreck.
One of the teenage boys involved in the crash succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The teenage girl who was driving the vehicle sustained serious injuries and remained hospitalized as of Wednesday evening. A second teenage girl was treated at the hospital and later released.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing and no further details about the circumstances of the collision have been released by law enforcement.
Krum ISD issued a statement Wednesday expressing deep grief over the loss of one of its students. School officials confirmed counseling resources would be made available to students and staff in the days ahead as the community processes the tragedy.
The district asked community members to respect the privacy of the student’s family during what it described as an unimaginably difficult time. School administrators also emphasized their commitment to supporting everyone affected within the Krum ISD community.
