The city of Everman will open its arms to the public this Saturday evening as residents gather to honor the memory of 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, the young boy whose disappearance and tragic death shook North Texas to its core.

The candlelight vigil is scheduled for Saturday October 24 at 6 p.m. at Clyde Pittman Park located at 300 Wichita St. in Everman. City officials are welcoming residents, first responders, law enforcement, community organizations and members of the media to attend.

Those planning to come are asked to wear light blue in tribute to Noel as it was his favorite color. The gathering takes place as Noel’s family separately prepares for a private funeral service.

Noel’s remains were discovered in May buried on the property where he had been living with his mother Cindy Rodriguez. Rodriguez has since been charged with capital murder in connection with the boy’s death.

The vigil will be held near the Noel Angel-Alvarez Playground an inclusive play space that the Everman City Council dedicated in the child’s honor in 2023. The playground was designed to welcome children of all abilities and stands as a permanent tribute to the young boy within the community that searched for him.

Noel’s case drew widespread attention across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond after he was reported missing. His story moved thousands of people who followed the investigation over the years before his remains were ultimately identified.

Saturday’s event will give the broader community a chance to come together in grief and solidarity while showing support for those closest to Noel.
