One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash along State Highway 121 in Grapevine, according to the Grapevine Police Department. The fatal incident occurred in the 700 block of southbound North State Highway 121.
Authorities say the vehicle veered off the road into the center median separating the northbound and southbound lanes before striking a guardrail. The impact sent the vehicle traveling an additional 35 feet before it came to rest in close proximity to nearby railroad tracks.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were involved in the crash.
As of the latest update from police the roadway remains open to traffic with no full closures in effect. Officials noted that temporary lane restrictions could be put in place as crews work to repair the damaged guardrail.
Investigators have not yet disclosed what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to piece together the sequence of events that led to the deadly outcome.
