Six O Two Tacos started at a family party. The owners made birria for the group and by the end of the night people were already asking where they could get more. That was the moment they decided to sell them.
The name comes from Arizona, where the owners lived before moving to Texas. The 602 area code stuck with them. They opened in Waxahachie in September 2020 as a 100% family-owned operation and have been running it the same way ever since. Five years in, the regulars are still showing up.

What to Order
The birria tacos are the reason most people show up the first time. They come with consomé on the side, and the combination is the kind of thing that turns a first visit into a habit. The tacos de alambre are worth adding to the order on that same visit. For a snack, the white corn elote mexicano has built its own following among people who know to ask for it.
Aguas frescas round out the menu well. The horchata and the pepino are the crowd favorites, especially during the warmer months when a cold drink after a plate of tacos is not optional. Mornings at Six O Two are worth the stop too. Breakfast burritos run until noon and the bacon and egg and chorizo con huevo are the ones people keep coming back for. The flavors are straightforward and the portions are generous. If you are in Waxahachie before noon and have not tried one, that is an easy fix.
The cactus logo is intentional. The owners want it to be the kind of image people recognize across DFW without needing to read the name underneath. They are building toward that, one order at a time, and the recognition is starting to follow.
A Family Operation
Everything at Six O Two runs in-house. The owners are hands-on, bilingual and present. They have built the kind of customer base that comes back not just for the food but because they know the people behind the counter. That dynamic is hard to fake and easy to notice when you walk in.
The business also takes catering seriously. If you are planning an event in the area and want something beyond the usual options, Six O Two is worth the call. They handle everything directly and the same food quality carries over.

The Setup
Two locations in Waxahachie. The main spot at 201 N Monroe Street is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also a trailer in the Home Depot parking lot at 1315 N Highway 77, which gives them a second presence on one of the busiest corridors in the city. You can eat in at the main location, order pickup, use Uber Eats, or reach out directly for catering.
Best Tacos in Ellis County
The Midlothian Mirror and Waxahachie Daily Light run Reader’s Choice Awards every year, determined entirely by community votes. No sponsored categories, no paid placements. Six O Two Tacos won best taco restaurant in Ellis County, which means they beat every other taqueria in the county because the people who actually eat there voted for them. It is a community endorsement and those tend to be the most honest ones.
