Two men face capital murder charges after a drive-by shooting in Dallas killed an unborn baby when they fired into a vehicle carrying a pregnant woman, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 12:40 a.m. on May 3 to a shooting call in the 4600 block of Wimbelton Way. According to investigators, 17-year-old Yeremy Zapata Aleman and 20-year-old Keyner Calero Jiron had been involved in an altercation with a man at a nearby business. When the man left, both suspects followed him in their vehicle and fired into his car as he drove away. A pregnant woman inside the vehicle was struck by gunfire. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported her to a local hospital, where her baby later died from the injuries.
Both suspects were arrested at the scene and initially charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, along with narcotics and firearms charges. Following the death of the infant, both Zapata Aleman and Calero Jiron were upgraded to capital murder charges. Zapata Aleman has six bonds set at a combined total of $510,000. Bonds for Calero Jiron have not been set. Both remain in the Dallas County Jail.
The condition of the pregnant woman has not been publicly released. The investigation is ongoing and documented under case number 062784-2026. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dallas Police Department.
