Two men were found dead Thursday after a car accident in Fort Worth led authorities to discover nearly 480 pounds of suspected liquid methamphetamine inside the vehicle — a seizure with an estimated street value of up to $3 million.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:28 a.m. on April 16, 2026, near 1940 Delga Street in Fort Worth’s central division. Officers and Fort Worth Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a car that had struck an unoccupied parked vehicle before traveling a short distance and coming to a stop.
When first responders arrived, they found an adult male deceased in the passenger area of the wrecked car. The driver, also an adult male, was provided medical care on scene but was pronounced dead shortly after. As of Thursday, neither victim had been identified. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
During the initial investigation, Fort Worth Fire discovered a large amount of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle. The area was immediately secured, and traffic investigation detectives along with narcotics officers were called to the scene.
Investigators found ten white plastic buckets filled with liquid inside the car. Testing confirmed the substance was presumptive positive for liquid methamphetamine. The total estimated weight of the substance was 480 pounds, with a potential street value between $1 million and $3 million. Fumes from the chemical were described as very strong but remained contained within the vehicle.
One Fort Worth firefighter was transported to a local hospital after exposure to the fumes. The firefighter was expected to be released on April 17 and is in good condition.
The DEA Clandestine Lab unit responded to the scene to collect, analyze, and dispose of the hazardous materials. The investigation remains ongoing.
