Two people were pulled from a burning home in critical condition Thursday night in the Red Bird neighborhood of Dallas after firefighters arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. Three animals inside the home also died in the blaze.
Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were called just before 9:30 p.m. to a one-story home in the 6600 block of Starkey Street. When the first units arrived, the house was already fully engulfed. Firefighters were told at least two people were trapped inside and immediately began rescue operations, pulling both victims from the burning structure. Both were transported to local hospitals in critical condition. Their names have not been released.
Three animals inside the home also died as a result of the fire. Neighbors told WFAA that two people lived in the home.
Crews battled the fire for nearly an hour before declaring it fully extinguished. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Dallas Fire-Rescue. No additional information about the circumstances that led to the blaze has been released.
