An 18-year-old man lost his life early Sunday morning following a shooting that originated at an Arlington apartment complex and ended at a Fort Worth gas station miles away.
Arlington police were dispatched to the 3100 block of East Park Row Drive around 2:54 a.m. after a resident in the area reported hearing sounds consistent with gunfire. Officers arrived but initially found no victim at the scene.
Fort Worth Police then alerted Arlington authorities that a young man with a gunshot wound had been located at a gas station in the 6600 block of Brentwood Stair Road. A witness who was with the victim told officers the man had been shot at the Arlington apartment complex.
The 18-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the gas station and was pronounced dead at the scene. The witness who accompanied him was unharmed and has been cooperating fully with investigators.
Arlington officers returned to the apartment complex following confirmation of the shooting and discovered multiple shell casings scattered across the parking lot. The evidence helped confirm the location as the primary crime scene.
As of Sunday no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting. Detectives from both Arlington and Fort Worth are actively working to piece together the events leading up to the gunfire and to identify the person or persons responsible.
