DART Train Strikes Vehicle Near Buckner Station, Driver Hospitalized in Critical Condition

A DART train crashed into a passenger vehicle Tuesday evening near the Buckner station in southeast Dallas, leaving the driver critically injured and prompting an emergency response.

The collision occurred around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Jim Miller Road and CF Hawn Freeway. Buckner station serves as the southeasternmost stop on the DART rail system.

In a rare coincidence, a Dallas Fire-Rescue unit happened to be driving through the area and witnessed the crash as it unfolded. Crews responded immediately and found the driver trapped inside the damaged vehicle.

Emergency personnel worked to free the driver from the wreckage and transported the individual to a local hospital in critical condition. The severity of the injuries underscores the violent nature of the impact.

DART police have launched an investigation to determine what led to the collision. The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle ended up in the path of the train remain under review.

Despite the severity of the crash, DART reported no service disruptions on its alert page following the incident. Rail operations appeared to continue without significant impact to commuters.
