Two firefighters were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after sustaining injuries while battling a rapidly growing RV fire in Rendon, located in Tarrant County. Both are reported to be in stable condition.
The fire broke out on Jessica Lane and was initially handled by Tarrant County Emergency Services District 1. As flames intensified and began spreading to nearby structures, brush, and trees, crews from more than a dozen jurisdictions were called in to help.
The Crowley Fire Department arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. to find the RV fully engulfed and the fire actively advancing to surrounding vegetation and buildings. The incident quickly escalated into a major multi-agency operation.
A total of 33 pieces of apparatus were deployed from departments including Mansfield, Crowley, Fort Worth, Benbrook, Forest Hill, Pantego, Everman, Venus, Dalworthington Gardens, Edgecliff Village, Johnson County ESD and the Texas A&M Forest Service. Mansfield Fire crews remained on scene for approximately seven hours while Crowley firefighters worked for around three hours.
Firefighters battled the blaze in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, adding to the physical toll of the response. Limited access for apparatus, the distance to available fire hydrants and the high volume of water needed throughout the operation all complicated suppression efforts.
Water supply lines were also damaged by vehicle traffic during the incident making it even harder for crews to maintain adequate pressure and flow. These combined challenges stretched resources significantly across the large-scale response.
No civilians were reported injured as a result of the fire. The two injured firefighters have not been identified by department affiliation and investigators have not yet released details on the nature of their injuries.
Fire crews remained on scene working to extinguish hotspots across an estimated five acres of scorched brush and trees.
