A wave of gunfire shattered the peace of a Southwest Fort Worth neighborhood early Thursday morning, leaving a teenager dead inside his own home. According to the Fort Worth Police Department, the violent episode unfolded around 1:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of Glenbrook Lane.
First responders arrived to find the young victim suffering from gunshot wounds after bullets were fired from a vehicle into the residence. The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite medical intervention, he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, at 2:22 a.m.
The investigation is currently being handled as a drive-by shooting by homicide detectives. While the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office works to formally identify the deceased, police are scouring the area for surveillance footage or witnesses who can describe the suspect’s vehicle.
