Two major court hearings have been set in the Karmelo Anthony murder case as his newly assembled appellate legal team formally pushes to undo his conviction and remove the judge overseeing the post-trial process.

The first is set for August 19 and focuses on the recusal of Judge John Roach. ,Under Texas law Roach is expected to refer the recusal motion to a regional administrative judge who will decide whether a hearing on the request is necessary.,
,The recusal request centers on a televised interview Roach gave to Dallas station WFAA and subsequent public statements in which he strongly defended the jury’s decision and his own handling of the case.,
