A 26-year-old Garland man was arrested and charged with murder Saturday night after shooting and killing a woman during an argument at a residence where he lived, according to the Garland Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 11:45 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon at a home in the 800 block of Rosewood Hills Drive. When officers arrived, they found a woman unresponsive in a bedroom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives learned that the woman had been at the residence with Herman Resendiz-Velez, 26, of Garland, who lived at the location. During the investigation, detectives determined that Resendiz-Velez shot the woman during an argument. He was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder. Resendiz-Velez is currently being held at the Garland Detention Center with no bond set.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
