A 58-year-old Carrollton woman was arrested on a murder charge early Monday morning after police say she stabbed her husband and set their home on fire with him still inside, according to the Carrollton Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 1:40 a.m. to the 3600 block of Old Denton Road after receiving a report of a stabbing at a residence. When officers arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames and Carolina Macias, 58, sitting on the front porch. Macias told officers that her husband, Ramon Macias, 62, was still inside the burning residence.
Due to the intensity of the fire, officers were unable to enter the home. Carrollton Fire Rescue responded to the scene and located Ramon Macias inside, where he was found with a stab wound to the abdomen. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital, where Ramon Macias was pronounced deceased. Carolina Macias was subsequently arrested, charged with murder and transported to the Carrollton Jail.
Carrollton police did not release details about the events that led up to the stabbing or the fire. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional suspects are being sought at this time.
