North Texas Braces for Severe Weather and Potential Flooding

The Dallas-Fort Worth region is preparing for a period of highly volatile weather beginning this weekend and extending into early next week. While Thursday and Friday may only see minor, scattered showers, the National Weather Service warns that a slow-moving low-pressure system will significantly increase the risk of intense thunderstorms.

Starting Saturday evening, residents should expect multiple rounds of rain that could turn severe, particularly in areas west of US-281. Beyond the threat of high winds and hail, meteorologists are concerned about flash flooding caused by repeated storm cycles over the same saturated grounds. Similar patterns are expected to affect the Texas Panhandle, while Southeast Texas and the Houston area anticipate a lower, though still present, chance of rainfall during this timeframe.
