Authorities have identified the deceased as 62-year-old Theadus De Esting Gaines, who was discovered by officers near the intersection of Coit Road around 12:30 a.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that an unidentified motorist traveling eastbound struck Gaines and fled the scene without providing assistance. While the investigation is ongoing, police have not yet released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved.
