A Dallas courtroom entered its third day of testimony Thursday in the capital murder trial of rapper Yella Beezy, who stands accused of orchestrating the 2020 killing of fellow Dallas rapper MO3, whose legal name was Melvin Noble.

Markies Conway, known professionally as Yella Beezy, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Prosecutors allege he paid a hitman to carry out the killing following a years-long feud with Noble that reportedly began in 2017.

Over the first two days of the trial, witnesses took the stand to describe a violent and chaotic scene that unfolded on a Dallas freeway when Noble was gunned down. Testimony painted a disturbing picture of a targeted attack carried out in broad daylight on a busy stretch of road.

Prosecutors argue Conway hired Kewon White to execute the killing as part of a murder-for-hire scheme. White was separately tried and convicted of capital murder in September and is currently serving a life sentence in connection with Noble’s death.

MO3 was a rising figure in the Dallas rap scene at the time of his death and had built a significant regional following. His November 2020 killing shocked the local music community and drew widespread attention to the dangers of escalating disputes within the industry.

The state’s case against Conway rests heavily on the alleged financial arrangement between him and White as well as the documented history of conflict between Conway and Noble. Defense attorneys have maintained their client’s innocence throughout the proceedings.

Witnesses called during the first two days of testimony described the moments surrounding the shooting in detail as prosecutors worked to establish the sequence of events and connect Conway to the alleged plot. Additional witnesses were expected to take the stand as the trial continued Thursday morning.

Capital murder charges in Texas carry the possibility of the death penalty or life in prison without parole if a conviction is secured. The trial is expected to continue over the coming days as both sides present their arguments and evidence before the jury.
